I don't know...I felt this finale was sort of lacking. It didn't have the intense build and suspense of past finales. It's a little disappointing because the season was so great overall.
Brainiac fed Lex's delusions that his obsession with the Traveler is a good thing by posing as Kara. The real Kara is stuck in the Phantom Zone.
I was thinking Lex and Clark were going to battle. Actually I was hoping that they were going to battle. They didn't...come to think of it, there was no major battle. Clark killing Brainiac doesn't count because there wasn't too much of a struggle. Clark didn't hesitate too much beforehand because like he said, Brainiac is a machine. This brings Lana (and Chloe) out of their catatonic states.
Lana drops Clark a Dear John video message. It's about time that they broke up! The events of Action foreshadowed it but it should have been sooner in my opinion. But then again, the break up is a good vehicle for Kristin Kreuk's exit. Lana had been becoming less and less significant while Chloe became more important as the season went on. And guess who was there as a shoulder for Clark to cry on...LOIS! Probably to set up the beginning of Clark's romantic interest in her.
Speaking of Chloe, she was arrested by the Department of Domestic Security just as Jimmy was proposing to her. After Jimmy refused to spy on Lois, Lex pointed them in Chloe's direction. The proposal itself was really cute...it was very Jimmy. The bubble gum machine ring was priceless! Before that, Chloe and Clark hatched a plan to weaken Kara (who they didn't realize was actually Brainiac). As a result, Chloe was put into the same catatonic state as Lana but her powers weakened him.
As usual, we are left hanging. What will happen to the characters? How will it be without Al and Miles? We'll have to see next season.
