Dance
1. Domnina and Shabalin-Maxim should completely recover from his injuries before they do anything else. I hope that they get some interesting programs next season. The ones this year, especially the free dance, seemed to bog them down. Other than that, they have great technique.
2. Khokhlova and Novitski-They definitely have a "wow" factor. They're a very fiery team and that really sets them apart from the others. Their footwork isn't the greatest so they should probably improve upon that. It'll be interesting to see if they will end up being the number one team or will they be relegated to number two with the return of Domnina and Shabalin. Personally I prefer them but DomShabs do have superior technique.
3. Delobel and Schoenfelder-Retirement might be appealing to this team given their age and their place in life (Olivier has a child) but winning worlds could give them the drive to stay and fight for the Olympic gold medal. I didn't understand this team right away and I feel like this season, I finally "get" them and I really enjoy watching them. If they stay, I hope they continue to put out interesting programs. Also, it seems that they had a tendency to tighten up when they got to the free dance (they didn't win that segment at all this season). Hopefully, that is something they can figure out.
4. Pechalat and Bourzat-They had some awesome programs this year! Their flamenco was really impressive and their "Crazy" was very entertaining. They should up the difficulty in some of their elements (not the lifts...) and just keep improving all around. I look forward to seeing what they bring in the future.
5. Kerrs-They are crazy fun to watch! I hope they keep improving and that they start to challenge for the top...makes it more interesting!
6. Faiella and Scali-They've improved a lot since I first saw them at the Olympics (I remember them being one of the teams who splattered themselves all over the ice during the OD). I think maybe they could connect a bit better but other than that, they should just improve their elements.
7. Tessa and Scott-They rule! Enough said. The real test for them is handling the pressure of being world medalists. I believe that they can do it and if they keep heading down the path that they're on, they could very well be the strongest contenders in Vancouver. I would love to see them skate to something that's not lyrical just to be different. They do lyrical really well but it would be nice to see them do something fun for their free dance.
8. There is talk of Dubreuil and Lauzon possibly returning. Things will get really interesting if they return!
Wow...dance is crazy! So many teams at the top...the podium at worlds next year may very well not have any of this year's medalists. Along with the men, dance will be the discipline to watch!
